When the Hillary Clinton email investigation was in the spotlight, then-President Barack Obama went out of his way to say that he wasn’t involved in the doings of the Justice Department, that the FBI was its own independent entity, and that he wasn’t exerting any influence whatsoever over the investigation. But even if all that was true as it pertained to Hillary, Obama clearly did not take the same approach when it came to the FBI’s investigation into the Trump campaign. In fact, according to The Hill’s John Solomon, Obama actually tried to “take over” the investigation and run it from the White House.
Furthermore, Solomon said in a Thursday appearance on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show, the FBI’s spying campaign against Trump and his associates began long before the Bureau had any official business conducting that kind of investigation.
“The efforts to begin targeting and reaching out to Trump campaign officials to gain intelligence on Russia that would ultimately justify the investigation began weeks and months before the FBI had a formal predicate,” Solomon said. “That’s very important. The rules say you can’t use sources until you have a predicated investigation.”
In other words, it’s against the law for the U.S. government to spy on its own citizens without providing significant probable cause to a court. The government eventually got the warrant they needed to put Carter Page under surveillance (thanks to the use of the phony dossier), but Solomon says the FBI was breaking the law well before they ever had their hands on that piece of Clinton-funded opposition research.
“The predication is July 2016, and I show that there were contacts going on by people identified as informants that began much earlier than July 31,” Solomon said. “That’s the first part. The second part is, as the investigation was just starting to ramp up, there are internal FBI documents showing the FBI talking about the White House ‘taking over’ the investigation and fears the Justice Department was going to leak.”
“You mean the Obama White House was attempting to take over the investigation?” Hannity asked.
“That’s what the messages say,” Solomon replied, in reference to the texts between anti-Trump FBI officials Lisa Page and Peter Strzok. “The text messages are short and don’t give a lot of detail, but the words ‘the White House is running this’ are clear in the text messages.”
If we were the Democrats, we would be looking to wrap this Mueller probe up as soon as possible, because it isn’t doing anything these days other than backfiring on them. They may have once thought it was a good idea to bring down a duly-elected President of the United States, but they can’t look at what’s come out over the last six months and conclude that this is actually going well. If they keep digging, they’re going to wind up exposing the TRUTH about what really happened in 2016 to every American voter in the land. And every day, it looks more and more like that TRUTH goes past Jim Comey, John Brennan, and James Clapper to land right in the middle of the Oval Office.
Barack, now might be a good time for you to see if your buddy Richard Branson has an island you can hide out on for a little while.
