Clinton Camp was in Contact with Defiant Electors

Publicly, members of Hillary Clinton’s campaign distanced themselves from the so-called Hamilton Electors – leftists who were trying to keep Donald Trump from reaching 270 on December 19th. After the vote, spokesman Brian Fallon referred to it as a “shoddy coup attempt,” seemingly denouncing the effort on behalf of the former secretary of state herself.

But according to Politico, Clinton’s involvement behind the scenes was another matter. They obtained emails that showed top aides to Hillary – Jake Sullivan and Jennifer Palmieri – communicating with members of the Electoral College who wanted to throw the election to the House of Representatives.

From the site:

A batch of correspondence obtained by POLITICO shows members of Clinton’s inner circle — including senior aides Jake Sullivan and Jennifer Palmieri — were in touch for weeks with one of the effort’s organizers as they mounted their ill-fated strategy. And despite repeated requests for guidance, Clinton’s team did not wave them off.

In the material received by Politico, Sullivan and Palmieri rode a careful fence. They never came right out and endorsed what the electors were planning, but they made no effort to stop it, either. The site noted that their strategy was nearly identical to the one taken in the Rust Belt recounts: Quiet encouragement that didn’t quite rise to the level of active support.

In other words, cowardly interference in the democratic process.

Politco reported that Sullivan and other Clinton aides spoke to prominent anti-Trump elector Michael Baca on November 29. Baca was one of the men working diligently to persuade Republican electors to betray their pledge and vote for someone other than Trump. After the conference call, Baca sent an email to Sullivan apologizing for his urgent tone.

“Not at all! We all share a sense of urgency,” Sullivan replied. “Look forward to being in touch.”

Ultimately, none of this really matters since Trump easily won the 270 votes he needed to make his electoral victory official. The Clinton team was about as effective in their post-election machinations as they were in the campaign. And they’ve clearly learned nothing about concepts like transparency and honesty. Under Hillary’s command, the mantra remains: Say one thing publicly and another thing privately.

This weaselly crap is part of what cost her the election. When Donald Trump says something, he says it out loud. Love him or hate him, you don’t have to wonder where he stands. That’s called authenticity. That’s called having the courage of your convictions.

The office of the presidency should be held by a lion…not a snake.
