At least one CNN employee has taken a long, hard look in the mirror and come to some regretful conclusions about how the network has handled its political reporting over the last few years. Legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin took to the CNN airwaves on Monday to offer a mea culpa to viewers who have sat and watched as the network lied to them about a grand Trump/Russia conspiracy theory, about white supremacist kids wearing MAGA hats at the Lincoln Memorial, about “hands-up, don’t shoot” in Ferguson, and so much other nonsense.
Naturally, Toobin doesn’t feel a second’s worth of regret for any of that fake news. No, he’s concerned about Hillary Clinton.
The Hillary Clinton email scandal, he said, “is also a story about the news media, about how much time we spent on that, and that’s something that I have felt a great deal of personal responsibility for. Because I talked about the e-mails here at CNN, I wrote about it in the New Yorker, and I think I paid too much attention to them, and I regret that.
“I hope a lesson is learned,” Toobin continued. “I mean, this story turns out to be a big nothing, and we spent months on it. Hillary Clinton very likely lost the election because of it, and I think I should have been talking about other issues, not about the e-mails.”
Toobin was discussing the Clinton emails because of a State Department internal investigation that found more than 500 violations of security protocol in relation to Clinton’s private server. While it’s true that the agency did not find that Clinton and her staff engaged in “systemic” abuse of classified information, to look at this report and conclude that it was all a “big nothing” is to really have your Democratic Party Loyalty Helmet on a little too tight.
It’s just fascinating to us that the liberal media could look at its own reporting, decide there’s something wrong with it, and determine that the thing that is wrong…is that they were TOO HARD ON HILLARY CLINTON. Like, that’s a level of self-deception that defies the DSM V. That’s beyond pathological and into some weird territory of mental illness that hasn’t even been discovered yet.
The longterm effects of Trump Derangement Syndrome could turn out to be catastrophic.
