Embarrassing: Study Says Wind Turbines Will Increase Nation’s Temps

It is an oft-proven maxim that progressive solutions to the nation’s problems always wind up making those problems worse. You can see it clearly in such initiatives as forced minimum wage hikes, which result in massive job loss in the very demographics that Democrats are trying to help. You can see it in the anti-police, Black Lives Matter movement, which has resulted in neighborhoods and communities now having to police themselves…because the actual cops won’t risk their jobs to do them any favors. And now you can see it in the realm of climate change, where a new study confirms that one of the left’s favorite forms of alternative energy will actually increase temperatures MORE than fossil fuels.

From the Associated Press:

Ramping up wind power in America would also dial up the nation’s temperatures, a new study out of Harvard found.

While wind energy is widely celebrated as environmentally friendly, the researchers concluded that a dramatic, all-out expansion in the number of turbines could warm the country even more than climate change from burning coal and other fossil fuels, because of the way the spinning blades disturb the layers of warm and cold air in the atmosphere.

Some parts of the central United States are already seeing nights that are up to 2 degrees Fahrenheit (1.1 degrees Celsius) warmer because of nearby wind farms, said study lead author Lee Miller, an environmental scientist at Harvard.

“Any big energy system has an environmental impact,” said Harvard engineering and physics professor David Keith, a study co-author. “There is no free lunch. You do wind on a scale big enough … it’ll change things.”

The study, and the article, point out that these temperature gains cease when the turbines are shut off and do not contribute to the long-term warming commonly attributed to fossil fuels. At the same time, in an age where the scientific community is telling us that even the most microscopic changes in average temperature can wreak havoc on our planet, do we really want to take the chance?

The problem with treating climate change as some kind of “enemy” that we have to defeat is that it leaves no room for sober thinking or rational debate. With hysterical predictions looming in the air, we’re forced to act, act, act (!), lest we run out of time and watch New York City sink into the ocean like Atlantis. And that situation prevents us from taking our time, looking at the problem from every conceivable angle, and making sure that our much-ballyhooed solutions aren’t actually causing the problem to get worse – or creating new problems that didn’t exist before.

What do you think?

  1. The biggest threat to America seems to be the ignorant SOBs that Harvard is grooming behind its hallowed doors. Next you will hear them say that Kavanaugh is causing global warming! They will be wrong of course..the only thing warming up inn America is the firestorm caused by igniting the vile gas from Ford’s exhalations!

    • What I wish EVERYONE would think about, is just what the results are of “climate alarming.” Every time someone comes up with a new “alarming” finding, what we get from that is MORE laws, MORE regulations, LESS freedom and more government control over our lives. Excuse me, but that is the REAL goal. It’s not about “global warming,” it’s about “global control” over everyone’s lives!

  2. This is an interesting view and not hard to understand for anyone with an open mind and without a preconceived belief to begin with.
    *
Here is an idea I have had for a long time that may also play into this conversation.
    *
Take a look across this country, perhaps even around the world and what do we see, big cities hat have erected tall buildings. Could it be that all these tall building have the same impact on the wind and weather as large mountain ranges redirecting the wing in directions that are not the normal cycle?
    *
Could this also have an impact on the climate?

    • So, they say that any change can affect our climate??? I never hear about the fact that there are only 17% of trees on this planet compared to 200 years ago! Tree absorb a lot of CO2, expel oxygen and actually cool the air with the evaporative effect they do. And what about all those truck/car radiators heating the air with 200 F plus temperatures that was not around 120 years ago! Then all those A/C’s that heat the outside air so the inside of your car/bus/home/business is cooler that was not around 70 years ago. Then would you agree that there are a 1000 % more homes/businesses on earth 200 years ago, that in winter these are heated that a LOT of heat escapes that heats the air around them! Wind generators disturbing the air is small potatoes compared to what I mentioned!!

  3. You need to show the study facts over a year showing the temperature effect that is mentioned. At this point it looks like fake news. Also note that the earth is is a warming cycle – historic.

    • Them..and eagles and hawks and owls!! Where these wind monsters are, they have designated crews to go out each day and pick up the dead predator birds!! Also, here and in Europe where there are HUGE wind farms, there are many, many people who have constant headaches and even some hearing loss because of the deep harmonic sound these things drone out!! This was found during a NatGeo investigation in Holland. They have turbines EVERYWHERE and not only were they having the headache and hearing issues, but also the bird killings as well. But, on a more dangerous note (that no one has mentioned), these turbines have a nasty habit of gear failure which causes the turbine to spin out of control!! In this investigation, they had to evacuate a small town because one had begun to spin out of control. The blades finally broke apart and they showed where a piece of one was sticking in the side of a lady’s house…A HALF A MILE AWAY!! These things are not only a danger to nature, but to humans as well.

  4. It takes about distribution of cold and warm air, not actual heating. Obviously, energy will be taken out of moving air so the speed will be reduced. If there was any effect on temperature, it would cool, not heat up. Also a localized effect, not the whole planet. Scientific illiterates will make all sorts of wacky claims with this.

    • Bob – One of the impacts of the population boom is freeways, and that opens channels for the wind to go where it didn’t with two-lane roads, and it cools the temperatures inland. The solution for this “Study” is to line the freeways and highways that no longer conform to the hills and valleys (canyons) of the land a hundred years ago with the turbines to slow the wind a bit. In California, the freeways I am familiar with are from the San Francisco Bay to the inland valleys (Diablo and San Juaquin). When they were put in the temperatures dropped dramatically. In Walnut Creek, for and example, I experienced 110 and 114 Degree (F) days up until FWY 24 was built in mid-70s and then it got cool to the point that ‘hot’ was mid-90s. Further South I-580 cooled Livermore down similarly, and the wind at the Altamont Pass averaged about 7.5 MPH (wind farms there).
Is there an answer ? Yes! All it takes is that all the ‘believers’ set the example and take their ‘carbon footprint’ out of the equation and we won’t need to continue expanding the living space and the power usage will stabilize. (Add a beaming smiley face here, ’cause we also won’t be bothered with all the ‘chicken little’ studies and can save some ‘public money’ – AKA Taxes)

  5. I HAVE RECEIVED A LOT OF BULL S–T EMAIL ON THIS COMPUTER, BUT THIS CRAP IS UNBELIEVEABLE. IT TAKES A GOOD IMAGINATION TO CREATE THIS KIND OF POOP.

  6. Of course, anything like fans etc stirs the air and that in itself becomes energy.Sounds like the GREEN people will have something to ponder

  7. How much heat is created by the transfer of wind energy to electrical energy times the number of windmills. Is this not Warming the planet?

  8. For what it is worth.
As a person, trained in “Space Science ” and having been involved in several large System Engineering activities, I find it amazing the B.S, and partially true statements that continue to show up with respect to global warming. If you ignore the B.S. (which is getting hard to do lately) the interesting part is the partially true statements, usually taken out of context. As an example, I have been lucky to be able to do some independent analysis of some claims that have been made. It should be noted that some of the claims made to support GLOBAL warming, are based on questionable data. Specifically temperature data collected from roof top sensors. Besides the typical questions that should be addressed by the researchers, such as how to take into account the “BLACK” asphalt roof coating near, or under their sensor platforms, there are other items to note such as placement of such sensors near furnace vents (because they are a handy place to mount the sensors, as one group indicated to me).

As noted by other readers, the Earth is currently in a global warming period. For a local area, Mankind can, and does cause temperature increases. Anyone can just go from a “rural” to a “city” environment to see this impact. However the part that is not as apparently well known, the expected future, from a global sense, is a possible “mini-ice-age”, based on several Sun derived cycles converging as I write this. Exactly when and the expected GLOBAL temperature loss is current;y being studied. (It is not going to happen “next year”, but as of 100 years from now, the future is uncertain.)
However you wish to look at a systems approach to Earth’s climate, you need to look at the “big global” players, such as the Sun cycles, and not just the “bit players” such as most Human activity.
I personally would want Global warming, so I can grow food. A mini Ice age will impact Global food production, resulting a a potential “die off ” of the human population.

For more information, I suggest that anyone interested look up the various Solar Cycle data, coupled with cosmic rays and how they impact environmental effects such as the formation of high altitude clouds and resulting reflection of the Suns radiation away from the the Earth’s surface. Also look up mini ice age and when London froze over back in the 1600s.
And, just to make things interesting, any research in to this topic, should also review CME’s (Coronal Mass Ejections) which are “large “plasma” objects that the Sun kick off and then travel through Space.
These events impact the actual “cosmic radiation” that we, on Earth experience.

Bottom line: “Our environment is a result of complex interactions of many different sources.”
In my past “life”, when just a few of the processes are blamed for some “fill in you pet issue here” issue, if you poke around you will find some one is creating a sound byte, to advance their own agenda. So be aware.

P.S. The reason I am stating “most Human activity”, is that there are some actions that can, and will impact the global environment. One comes to mind, an all out nuclear war, would have a global impact. But at that point, I suspect one would not be concerned with some “minor” climate changes we hear so much about today.
    (End of my soap box)

  9. I could readily believe this if the links to the actual study and report were provided.
This article did not state the facts that wind power kills more people (fatal injuries during install, maintenance, failed propellers…), birds and wild life (where is PETA?).
Report the names (Gore, Obama, …) of these clean power environmentalist who own the “Patent for carbon tax credit trading” and are making $millions from the suckers who remained in the “Climate Accord Treaty”. Thank President Trump for pulling us out and vote out that criminal cabal of the Democrat’s party (like all of them).

  11. They just want research money, all they are saying is based on bullshit. We went through an ice age and global warming could just be a cycle. Pollution is so bad in China, they wear masks, that is more a problem.
