Many in the so-called NeverTrump wing of the Republican Party have managed to come back to reality following the election. It took the ghastly spectacle of Democrats trying mightily to thwart democracy to shake some sense into them, but hey, at least they are finally glimpsing the light. It’s a shame they couldn’t participate in the energetic fun of the Trump campaign, but that’s their loss.
Not everyone is ready to drop their resistance to the 45th President of the United States, unfortunately.
Radio host Glenn Beck, who was an icon of conservative media throughout the Obama years, has become one of Trump’s fiercest critics. On Monday night, he appeared on the disgusting “Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” program to cement his betrayal of conservative America.
“My audience is going to think that I am crazy for sitting down with you,” Bee said at the beginning of the interview.
“My audience would like to stab you relentlessly in the eye,” Beck replied.
To which we can only ask: Does Beck still have an audience?
Bee said that the two had to join forces, regardless of their disparate political views (Bee is the kind of leftist that makes Rachel Maddow look like a Republican). Together, she said, they could form a “broad coalition of nonpartisan decency.”
“It’s not just individual people against Donald Trump, it’s all of us against Trumpism,” Bee said.
Beck agreed while apologizing for the “damage” he did going after the Obama administration.
“Please don’t make the mistakes that I made,” Beck said. “And I think all of us are doing it. We’re doing it on Facebook, we’re doing it on Twitter. We tear each other apart and we don’t see the human on the other side.”
Jesus Christ, start passing out the barf-bags.
It’s not fun to see Beck descend into this liberal nonsense. His radio show used to be informative, hilarious, and, at times, genuinely moving. Conservative stars are not in short supply on the AM band, but it’s still sad to lose one – especially a really good one like Beck.
That’s not to insinuate that every conservative pundit needs to be 100% pro-Trump 100% of the time. There’s plenty of room for cordial criticism, especially now that the election is over.
But what Beck is doing goes beyond reason. He may not be jumping the fence to become a Democrat, but he’s certainly jumping the shark.
