Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump rallied a crowd in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Wednesday, stating “ISIS honors Obama.” Trump’s harsh words did not stop there for the current president of the United States.
Trump called Obama the “founder” of ISIS and stated Hillary Clinton is the “co-founder” of the terror group.
The Republican stated, “In fact, in many respects, you know they honor president Obama. ISIS is honoring President Obama. He is the founder of ISIS. He’s the founder of ISIS, OK? He’s the founder. He founded ISIS.”
The harsh words from Trump were not recanted on Thursday morning during an interview with CNBC. Trump stated, “He was the founder of ISIS absolutely.” The billionaire stated that Obama’s decision to remove troops helped spread ISIS. Trump asserted that he was against the Iraq war, going as far as calling it “one of the worst mistakes in the history of our country.”
Critics agree that Obama didn’t anticipate the rise of ISIS and ignored the threat that the group posed to the country following the killing of Osama bin Laden.
Trump’s speech highlighted Obama’s full name “Barack Hussein Obama” with an emphasis on Hussein. The president’s middle name is often highlighted by conservatives in an effort to call Obama a Muslim sympathizer.
