NRA Hypocrites Ban Guns From Pence Speech (Says the LYING Left)

The left-wing news media had a field day this weekend with a story about Vice President Mike Pence giving a speech at the NRA’s annual convention in May. The moment it leaked that guns would not be allowed at the convention, idiotic writers like the ones who scribble for DailyKos and Salon flipped their lids, claiming that the nation’s largest gun advocacy organization was guilty of abject hypocrisy. Politico ran a story highlighting the reaction from the Parkland teen activists, who (naturally, since they have demonstrated again and again that they don’t have the slightest clue what’s going on about anything) slammed the NRA for banning guns from their event but not banning guns from high schools…or something.

Two news flashes for David Hogg and the rest of the anti-gun media: Guns are already banned at school and the NRA did not have a say in whether or not guns would be allowed at their event.

As anyone with half a brain cell can figure out, the United States Secret Service handles all security when the president and vice president appear at an event. Seeing as how the Secret Service is not an advocacy organization, their only allegiance is to the safety of their charges. So naturally, they are going to try to cut down on potential problems by banning weapons of any kind.

You would think, since we went through this exact rigmarole last year, that the news media would have remembered that the NRA is not being “hypocritical.” When the left was trying to smear the organization with that charge last May, the NRA told CNN: “The Secret Service works closely with our local law enforcement partners in each state to ensure a safe environment for our protectees and the public. Individuals determined to be carrying firearms will not be allowed past a predetermined outer perimeter checkpoint, regardless of whether they possess a ticket to the event.”

Now, some smart ass is going to bring up the dangers of “gun free zones,” which the NRA has fought righteously to get rid of. Well, here’s the thing about that. If every mall, movie theater, and community college in the United States was under the 24/7 protection of the Secret Service, we’re quite sure the NRA would have absolutely no problem with these gun free zones. The problem is not that U.S. citizens can’t carry their guns everywhere they go, the problem is that killers see these areas as soft targets because they know that no one will shoot back. That, um, is not going to be a problem at the NRA event.

There’s no hypocrisy here. There are only dim-witted leftists trying to score points with the low-information crowd.

  1. Liberal dem bloodsucking scum.
It behooves you to stop worrying about our weapons and buying your own
Civil war is headed this way.

    • Jerry, they already have their guns! Just check out what political party most of these shooters were associated with

  2. And we all know this is common sense where ever the President or VP are there will be no guns allowed . Kind of a no brain’er one would think . But the low info sheep will lap it up for another lame talking point .

  3. CNN’s David Hogg is a “halfwit” in my opinion, and if the “Left” had the other half, they’d know the call was made by the Secret Service, not the NRA.

  4. I’d have more Faith and more Facts if I were reading the National Enquirer than any main Stream media.

  5. I’d Trust the information in the National Enquirer before I would trust any Many Stream Media and any Fact checking Web Site.

When the Centers for Disease Control researched gun violence two decades ago, it found that firearms are used to protect citizens more than 2 million times per year, according to an expert criminologist.
Gary Kleck of the Florida State University of Criminology and Criminal Justice recently reported on a CDC study conducted between 1996 and 1998, the results of which were never publicly released.
“CDC’s findings indicated that an average of 2.46 million U.S. adults used a gun for self-defense in each of the years from 1996 through 1998,” Kleck wrote in a summary of his research into what the CDC uncovered, but did not share with the American people.
“CDC never reported the results of those surveys, does not report on their website any estimates of DGU frequency, and does not even acknowledge that they ever asked about the topic in any of their surveys,” Kleck wrote in his paper, according to Reason.
Given the fact that gun ownership is often under reported, the actual number may be higher, Kleck said.
He noted that the CDC itself found “guns were used defensively by victims about 3.6 times as often as they were used offensively by criminals.”
Kleck theorized that politics kept the results quiet.
“(W)hy did CDC personnel decide not to report them?” Kleck wrote.
Does carrying a gun make you less likely to be a crime victim?
    Yes No

“One obvious explanation would be that they recognized that their own surveys’ finding of a high (defensive gun use) prevalence was unfriendly to gun control efforts — efforts repeatedly endorsed by CDC-financed researchers.”
According to the criminologist, the facts should have been laid before the people.
“Regardless of how the decision was made, it was a disservice to the American people, who paid for the survey and the information it yielded, but who were not allowed to see it and judge its worth for themselves,” he wrote.
Kleck’s numbers are bigger than those coming from people who try to minimize the prevalence of defensive gun use.
In a 2015 article for Politico, Kleck said those who downplay defensive gun use “hope that total gun prohibition will one day be politically achievable, and they recognize that high numbers of DGUs each year would present an enormous obstacle to persuading Americans that disarming noncriminals would be without serious costs.”

Although the CDC did not disseminate the findings of its late 1990s work, it did share the results of a 2013 study that concluded potential crime victims can avoid injury by being armed, according to CNS News.
“Studies that directly assessed the effect of actual defensive uses of guns (i.e., incidents in which a gun was ‘used’ by the crime victim in the sense of attacking or threatening an offender) have found consistently lower injury rates among gun-using crime victims compared with victims who used other self-protective strategies,” the CDC study said.
That report also said that “defensive gun uses by victims are at least as common as offensive uses by criminals, with estimates of annual uses ranging from about 500,000 to more than 3 million per year.”

  7. Last time I checked the Secret Service is armed with semiautomatic and automatic weapons so, for those anti-gunners out there, there will be a lot of guns at the NRA convention.

  8. It’s so sad for our country that we have become so gun-crazy. What is wrong with us? It’s there enough violence?

  9. Richard Boyle, The number of guns has NOTHING to do with the amount of violence. People who are prone to committing violent acts will always find a means of doing just that. They will use knives, automobiles, clubs whatever is convenient as a tool. The gun is nothing but a tool. The violence is people, not guns. What is so difficult to understand?

  10. Regarding what some describe as Hypocracy on the part of the NRA, heck with the relevant Government Agency, The Secret Service.

  11. I have realized some new points from your web page about computer systems. Another thing I’ve always imagined is that computer systems have become a specific thing that each family must have for several reasons. They supply you with convenient ways in which to organize the home, pay bills, go shopping, study, hear music and in some cases watch shows. An innovative technique to complete these types of tasks is a laptop computer. These personal computers are mobile, small, highly effective and mobile.
