Hillary Clinton’s campaign just took a blow following the news that Bernie Sanders spent Wednesday with Pres. Barack Obama. Clinton announced earlier this week that she believes Obama supports her run for presidency, but this meeting was quite different. Bernie Sanders spent 45 minutes in the Oval Office with the current president. They did not take photos, or go out to lunch like the President did with Hillary Clinton.
Both men gathered for a meeting that has been scheduled since last month. Sanders scheduled the meeting for the last week possible because if Sanders goes on to win the Iowa caucus, a meeting would be seen as an endorsement from the White House. Sanders commented that he still believes that the government needs to do more to protect the middle class and working families.
In an exchange with reporters on Wednesday, Sanders stated that the country has come very far under the guidance of Pres. Obama and VP Joe Biden.
When Sanders was asked if Obama endorsed him for presidency, he stated, “of course not.” He stated that both the vice president and president have tried to be fair and equal to both him and Clinton. The Obama administration is trying to push back the premises that he has endorsed Clinton
