Carson endorses Trump’s candidacy

Ben Carson, who dropped out of the Republican presidential race just last week, has decided to follow New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s footsteps and endorsed front-runner Donald Trump.

Carson announced his support for Trump on Friday.

“There are two different Donald Trumps. The one you see on the stage and the one who is very cerebral,” Carson said at a press conference in Palm Beach, Florida.

“That’s the Donald Trump you’re going to start seeing right now.”

Trump, who was also present in the press conference, agreed with Dr. Carson’s statement.

Carson also said he was against concerted efforts within the Republican Party to fight Trump’s candidacy.

The statement came after the GOP ramped up negative ads against the Republican front runner. Influential GOP figures and former presidential candidates have all spoken against Trump, including 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

“What I have seen recently is political operatives trying to thwart the will of the people,” the retired neurosurgeon said.

When asked about Trump’s previous attacks to his own candidacy and his ability to lead the nation, Carson said that they have buried the hatchet.

“That was political stuff. We move on,” said Carson.

While the endorsement will surely boost Trump’s bid to become the GOP’s nominee, some pundits say the endorsement will surprise and even turn off many of Carson’s supporters, as the soft-spoken, deeply religious retired doctor is a sharp contrast to the often abrasive Trump.
