Koch Brother’s Political Network Commits $30 Million to Senate Ad Buys

The billionaire Koch brothers’ political network has set aside $30 million for advertising for Senate races in August and September. The Republican brothers have been reluctant to support Donald Trump as president and are known for their powerful political network that can help sway elections.

Free Partners Action Fund and several other groups funded by the Koch brothers will be using the money to fund digital and television advertising.

The groups are expected to boost Republican senators in key states, including: Florida, Nevada, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. The ads will target Democratic Senate candidates in an attempt to boost Republican candidates.

The brothers’ network initially planned to spend $889 million in the 2016 elections, but reports yesterday indicated that the network was scaling back political involvement. The brothers were disappointed in the Republican results this year, according to a source close to the matter.

Freedom Partners Action Fund and other groups funded by the brothers have spent $12 million on key Senate races in 2016 and reaffirm their commitment to politics. The group launched an ad this morning against Ted Strickland’s Senate campaign, spending more than $2.2 million in the process. Strickland was Ohio’s Governor from 2007 – 2011 and associates himself with the Democratic Party.
