Sanders, Trump Debate Infuriates Democrats

Vermont senator Bernie Sanders challenged Trump to a debate on Wednesday. The presumptive GOP’s response? Sure, if the proceeds go to charity.

Sanders has been goading Trump into making a commitment since, but his latest ploy has infuriated Democrats.

West Virginia senator Joe Manchin said, “That confirms what we’ve been saying. Why would you expect Bernie should be considerate or be nice or be working to bring everyone together?” Manchin said Sanders is “not a Democrat.”

The Democratic Party is growing increasingly frustrated with Sanders, who refuses to step out of the race and unite behind Hillary Clinton.

Some Democrats are puzzled by the move, while others believe Sanders is making a last-ditch effort to win in California.

But a small group of party members approve of the event, provided it unmasked Trump as a false advocate for the working class.

Washington state Senator Maria Cantwell called the debate “a good idea.”

“The economic future of our country needs to be debated,” she added.

Clinton has been left out of the conversation on the Sanders/Trump debate. Despite making a public commitment to four debates, Clinton refused an invitation for the fourth and final debate against Sanders in California.

With no Democratic debate in sight, Sanders is setting his sights on Trump. If the presumptive GOP nominee goes through with it, the event will be one of the biggest TV spectacles of the campaign season.
