Orlando DNC Meetings May Lead to Clinton-Sanders Event

Whether or not Bernie Sanders joins Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire for a campaign event depends on the outcome of the Democratic platform meeting held over the weekend, sources close to the matter say. Sanders confirmed the rumor Wednesday on MSNBC.

When asked if reports of possible endorsements were true, Sanders replied, “That’s correct.”

Sanders had been pushing for policy concessions on college tuition, which finally came to fruition on Wednesday when Clinton rolled out a plan for tuition-free public colleges and universities for families of four earning less than $125,000 per year.

The Vermont senator is also pushing for Clinton to make a commitment to healthcare reform by allowing people aged 55 and older to buy into Medicare, and for the platform to oppose the TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership) agreement.

If the meeting in Orlando is fruitful, those close to the matter say Sanders may make a joint appearance with Clinton in New Hampshire next week.

The joint appearance is not set in stone, however, and patience among party members is growing thin. Sanders was booed in a recent meeting with House Democrats after failing to support Clinton.

Democrats will meet in Orlando on Friday and Saturday to finalize the platform before the party’s convention in Philadelphia this month.
