Newt Gingrich, former House Speaker and one of Donald Trump’s three candidates for vice president, announced on Thursday that the United States should test every Muslim in the country to find out who believes in Sharia law. Gingrich says all those that believe in Sharia should be deported from the country.
“Let me be as blunt and direct as I can be, Western civilization is in a war,” he stated.
Gingrich discussed his beliefs in an interview with Fox News. “Modern Muslims, who have given up Sharia, glad to have them as citizens. Perfectly happy to have them next door,” he stated. The remarks from the former House Speaker came after a terrorist attack in Nice, France that left 84 people dead on Thursday night.
Sean Hannity, Fox News interviewer, asked Gingrich, “How do you possibly ascertain whether or not that person really wants assimilation?” Gingrich responded, “The first step is you have to ask them the questions.” Gingrich continued, “The second step is you have to monitor what they’re doing on the Internet. The third step, you have to monitor the mosques.”
The former House Speaker had harsh words for President Obama, stating, “I fully expect by tomorrow morning President Obama will give a press conference in which he’ll explain that the problem is too many trucks.”
