Trump Bolsters Attack at RNC Preparing for General Election

Donald Trump accepted the Republican nomination on Thursday night at the Republican National Convention. The billionaire had harsh words for his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton, stating that the former secretary of state has a “legacy of death, destruction, terrorism and weakness.”

Trump stated that he is a “friend of the working class.”

The crowd shouted in praise of Trump and called for Clinton to be locked up. Chants of “lock her up” were heard in the audience. Trump responded “let’s defeat her in November.”

Republicans watched the convention closely, with hopes that Trump would elaborate on his policies. Trump took a different approach and tried to push himself as a fresh alternative for president. Trump aimed to appeal to the working class that feel abandoned.

Trump blamed Clinton for the rise of the Islamic State and stressed his disapproval of letting thousands of Syrian refugees into the country.

“After 15 years of wars in the Middle East, after trillions of dollars spent and thousands of lives lost, the situation is worse than it has ever been before,” stated Trump.

Nation-building policies were denounced during Trump’s speech, with the Republican candidate careful to not mention George W. Bush, the president that was partly responsible for the policies.
