Melania Trump’s Immigration Story Raises More Questions and Inconsistencies

Melania Trump has been in the spotlight since her husband was nominated as the Republican presidential candidate. The former model was first accused of plagiarizing a speech given by Michelle Obama in 2008, and recent nude photographs of the former model were published this week.

Trump’s biography and immigration status when she first arrived in the United States have entered the spotlight this week.

The photographs in question raise inconsistencies of her immigration status. Immigration authorities assert that Melania’s varied account and misrepresentation to immigration authorities could cause legal issues for her in the future.

Donald Trump stated previously that his wife came to the United States legally. Melania’s accounts suggest she was in the country on a short-term visa.  The short-term visa would not have allowed Trump to work in the country at the time. The billionaire’s wife said she came to New York in 1996, but the recently published photographs are from a photoshoot in 1995 in the United States.

Melania would have been working in the country illegally in this case.

CBS News also reported that Trump didn’t obtain a college degree in Slovenia as she has reported in the past.

Trump’s campaign has not answered any questions on the matter. If the accusations prove to be true, it would be a major blow to Trump’s stance on immigration.
