Trump Admits Error in Claim of Seeing $400 Million Payment to Iran

Donald Trump backed off on his claims that he had seen a video of $400 million being unloaded in Iran. The payment was initially thought to be ransom money for the release of United States prisoners by the White House.

The Republican nominee claimed that the video of the money coming from the plane existed during two rallies this week. The billionaire further stated that the video was provided to “embarrass our president because we have a president who’s incompetent.”

Trump corrected his error on Twitter, tweeting, “The plane I saw on television was the hostage plane in Geneva, Switzerland, not the plane carrying 400 million in cash going to Iran!”

A reversal from Trump on the matter comes during a week where many Republicans have jumped ship due to controversy from Trump’s comments to a slain military member’s family. Tim Kaine, Hillary Clinton’s pick for vice president, stated on Friday morning that Trump “seemed confused.”

Kaine continued, “I have no idea what he’s talking about. It doesn’t exist,” referring to the video of Iran receiving $400 million.

Trump recently stated that Kaine “did a terrible job in New Jersey” during a news conference in July. Kaine never served as a senator or governor in the state.
