Republicans Want the RNC to Cut Trump Funds

A group of over 70 Republicans have signed an open letter to RNC (Republican National Committee) Chairman Reince Priebus, asking the chairman to cut off funds to Donald Trump’s campaign. The group is urging the RNC to allocate those funds to Senate and House races instead.

The open letter comes as the GOP nominee is facing sharp criticism for his controversial remarks that many say cross the line. Several Republican senators as well as national security officials have come forward to say they will not vote for Trump.

In the letter, Republicans called Trump divisive, reckless and incompetent. They also said Trump’s “record-breaking unpopularity risk turning this election into a Democratic landslide.”

“Only the immediate shift of all available RNC resources to vulnerable Senate and House races will prevent the GOP from drowning with a Trump-emblazoned anchor around its neck.”

Republicans say the decision should be an easy one, “as Donald Trump’s chances of being elected president are evaporating by the day.”

Andrew Weinstein, an anti-Trump Republican, helped organize the letter, which is expected to be sent next week. Weinstein says the letter comes from party members who are concerned about protecting their majorities in the House and Senate.

“It’s not an endorsement of anybody,” Weinstein clarified.

Trump has faced serious backlash in recent weeks after attacking Gold Star families, praising violent foreign leaders and inviting Russia to “find” the lost emails from Clinton’s server.
