Donald Trump’s poll numbers continue to fall, according to a poll conducted by Siena Research Institute conducted last week. The poll was conducted with registered voters in New York. The data shows Democrat Hillary Clinton in a commanding lead against Trump, with a one-on-one contest showing Clinton winning 57-27.
When a third-party candidate is factored into the data, Clinton beats Trump 50-25.
Favorability numbers for Clinton continue to fall, as 51% of voters view the candidate in a positive light, while 46% view her unfavorably. Trump’s numbers are far worse, with only 24% viewing him as a favorable candidate. A staggering 72% view Trump unfavorably.
New York is traditionally a blue state, so the data in favor of Clinton is not a surprise.
The data more importantly shows that Trump is losing support among Republicans in New York. Trump has the support of just over half of New York Republicans, which may cause further damage for the Republican Party in the state during reelection.
Clinton’s numbers are comparable to Barack Obama’s numbers in New York at the same point in the election. The former first lady is polling 81-10 among Democrats, according to the poll released on Monday morning. Trump has just 55% of Republicans stating that they would vote for him when he and Clinton are only considered. A June poll from Siena had 68% of Republicans supporting Trump.
