Donald Trump’s ties to Pam Bondi have widened, according to recent reports. Bondi, Florida’s Attorney General, decided to halt the investigation into Trump University, which raised questions of a conflict of interest among parties involved.
Reports indicate that Trump held a $3,000-per-person fundraiser at his Mar-a-Lago mansion in Palm Beach for Bondi. The funds were used for her reelection bid.
Trump didn’t donate to Bondi, but the fundraiser held at his mansion allowed her to raise significant funds to fill her coffers. The ties between Bondi and Trump deepen, as his foundation gave a pro-Bondi PAC an additional $25,000.
Trump has downplayed his relationship with Bondi and stated he supported the candidate politically.
Ivanka and Donald Trump gave Bondi $500 each for her campaign in 2013 before donating another $125,000 to the Republican Party of Florida. The money donated was not directly donated to Bondi, but records show that the party is Bondi’s biggest source of funding.
Bondi’s campaign stated that the event at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago was a small event. The event cost the campaign just $4,800. Trump charges his own campaign $140,000 per event that is held at his mansion.
Trump University was being sued for fraud. The lawsuit alleged that Trump never mentored or offered the classes he promised. The University didn’t refund students their money.
