Donna Brazile, interim chair of the Democratic National Committee, said on Tuesday that the organization was once again hacked by Russian agents. The DNC asserts that the agents are attempting to influence the presidential election, Reuters reported.
The leak, which was posted to WikiLeaks’ Twitter account, has been attributed to hacker Guccifer 2.0.
According to Politico, the release came on Tuesday during a presentation at a security conference in London on behalf of the alleged hacker.
Brazile said of the leak, “There’s one person who stands to benefit from these criminal acts, and that’s Donald Trump.”
The interim DNC chair said Trump has not only embraced Putin, but has encouraged “Russian espionage” to aid his campaign.
A similar leak in July pushed Debbie Wasserman Schultz to resign from her position as head of the DNC on the eve of the Democratic National Convention. That leak showed leading members of the Democratic Party working to undermine Bernie Sanders, Clinton’s opponent, during the primary races. Three other leading officers also stepped down after that leak.
Brazile said the DNC had been anticipating another leak of documents “stolen by Russian agents.”
The Clinton campaign was also reportedly concerned that another publication of documents would be released just ahead of the November election.
