Speaking at a rally in Florida on Friday, Republican nominee Donald Trump called for the disarming of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s bodyguards.
“Let’s see what happens to her,” he said, adding that the situation would be “very dangerous.”
The Republican nominee attacked Clinton, calling her a person who “lives behind walls and raises money from hedge funds.”
Trump called on his rival’s bodyguards to “disarm immediately,” adding that “she doesn’t want guns.”
“Take them, let’s see what happens to her. Take their guns away, okay. It will be very dangerous,” Trump added.
Clinton and Trump have been protected by the Secret Service for months, but his latest jibe at his opponent led to backlash from Clinton supporters.
“Tonight, Donald Trump once again alluded to violence against Hillary Clinton,” said a spokeswoman for the pro-Clinton Group Correct the Record.
This is the second time the Republican nominee took a jab at Clinton for her armed protection. In May, Trump claimed that Clinton would remove the Second Amendment.
“Let’s see how they feel walking around without their guns or their bodyguards,” he said.
Last month, Trump was under fire again after insinuating that gun rights activists could prevent Clinton from nominating liberal Supreme Court justices.
While Clinton has never called for the abolishment of the Second Amendment, she has proposed tighter gun laws, including universal background checks.
