Hillary Clinton Wins First Debate, According to POLITICO Caucus

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump debated in the first presidential debate last night, with Clinton winning the debate according to 8 out of 10 in the POLITICO Caucus. Clinton showed that she prepared for the debate, while Trump was on the defensive all night with incoherent rants at times that didn’t answer the moderator’s questions.

The figures show that only 1% of Democrats and 43% of Republicans felt that Trump won the debate.

A key point in the span up to the general election, Trump looked unprepared at times, and it’s expected that the poll numbers will sway in Clinton’s favor as a result.

Clinton pressed Trump on his refusal to release his tax returns and also stated that the taxes that have been released to the public in the past due to investigations show the billionaire paid no taxes on his income. He responded, “That makes me smart.”

Trump asserted that the country’s trade deals have caused the United States to lose money. He backed his proposal to cut corporate taxes to 15% and suggests that it will create jobs. Clinton fired back, stating that trickle economics has not worked in the past and won’t work in the future.

Trump denied saying that China created the idea of climate change, despite his tweet stating: “The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.” He also stated, “NBC News just called it the great freeze — coldest weather in years. Is our country still spending money on the GLOBAL WARMING HOAX?”
