Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani attacked Hillary Clinton after Monday’s debate, calling her “too stupid to be president” because she remained with her husband after the Monica Lewinsky scandal.
“If you didn’t know the moment Monica Lewinsky said Bill Clinton violated her and was telling the truth, then you’re too stupid to be president,” Giuliani told Elite Daily after the debate.
Speaking to CNN’s Dana Bash after the debate, Trump said he was “happy” to “hold back on the – you know, on the indiscretions with respect to Bill Clinton, because I have a lot of respect for Chelsea Clinton and I just didn’t want to say what I was going to say.”
The former mayor and staunch Trump supporter said Trump’s biggest mistake was being “too reserved and too gentlemanly.”
Giuliani said he would have attacked Clinton for her treatment of Monica Lewinsky at the height of the scandal involving her husband. He accused Clinton of “painting” Lewinsky as “an insane young woman.”
Both Trump and Giuliani have been married three times and have engaged in extramarital relationships that have led to divorces.
When asked about Trump’s hint that he may bring up Bill Clinton’s infidelity at a future debate, Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook told CNN, “He spiraled out at the end of the debate and so, of course, he wants to bully. He wants to talk about the supposed indiscretions.”
