Donald Trump issued a video statement on Saturday, apologizing for lewd remarks he made off-camera at the taping of an “Access Hollywood” episode in 2005.
In the 90-second video, the GOP nominee told voters he is not “perfect” and that his comments from over a decade ago were not a reflection of the person he is today.
“I was wrong and I apologize,” Trump said, referencing remarks in which he boasted about being able to grope women because he is a celebrity.
“I’ve traveled the country talking about change for America,” he said in the video statement, posted to social media. “But my travels have also changed me.”
Trump quickly moved on from his apology to go on the offensive, and attacked Hillary and Bill Clinton.
The Republican nominee acknowledged that he has said “some foolish things,” but said there is a “big difference between the words and actions of other people.”
“Bill Clinton has actually abused women and Hillary has bullied, attacked, shamed and intimidated his victims,” Trump said.
Trump continues to face serious backlash after the release of his lewd comments. Mike Pence, Trump’s running mate, canceled an event over the weekend and said he was “offended” by the GOP nominee’s comments.
