Hillary Clinton is leading Donald Trump in a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll. The poll has Trump trailing Clinton by 8 points. Many Republicans have turned their back on the billionaire following recent comments, released in a leaked tape, where the candidate is heard talking about groping women.
The comments and Sunday night’s debate have led to the Trump’s drop in the polls.
One in five Republicans stated that he should be disqualified from being president for his comments. He has brushed off the comments as “locker room talk.”
Clinton held a 5-point lead over Trump just a week ago.
The polls show that 18% of voters will not support a Clinton or Trump presidency. Clinton garnered 45% support in the polls, while Trump has 37% support when choosing between both candidates.
Trump’s Sunday night debate didn’t do much to help him reestablish confidence with voters. He called Clinton “the devil” at one point during the debate and attacked the candidate on her handling of classified information.
Reuters reports that 53% of viewers who watched the debate felt that Clinton won, while 32% felt that Trump won the debate.
Clinton’s lead in the polls has widened since the middle of September. Trump will need to regain the support of Republican leaders after a turbulent weekend if he hopes to gain ground in the polls.
