Guccifer 2.0, a notorious hacker during the 2016 elections, published screenshots of DNC documents from Kelly Roberts to a Clinton campaign member. The screenshots show Roberts and Tyson Brody discussing Donald Trump’s tax transparency issues.
Trump has stated that he will release his tax returns multiple times, but the candidate has failed to release any tax documents as of yet.
In the documents and screenshots, the hacker points to a memo of the DNC’s attempts to gain Donald Trump’s tax information. One memo provided recommendations under the Freedom of Information Act to try and get more of Trump’s information.
The documents also show the DNC’s interest in Trump’s former venture: Trump Steaks. There were talks about looking to find more information through the USDA.
Strategic research firm Jones Mandel was the center of many emails. The firm exchanged emails with Clinton’s research director Tony Clark as well as Lauren Dillon of the DNC. Recommendations from Mandel’s email include writing FOIA for Trump’s mortgage, tax assessments, USDA records, state lobbying records, federal lobbying records and numerous other records.
The firm stated that its team could write up the requests for the documents.
Guccifer 2.0 also released screenshots which look to be a 990 financial disclosure form from the Trump Foundation in 2014.
