Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump attacked Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s trade policies on Thursday, claiming her policies are so bad, the U.S. should “cancel the election” and name him president.
“We should just cancel the election and just give it to Trump, right?” Trump said, speaking to supporters in Ohio. “What are we even having it for? Her policies are so bad.”
Trump once again attacked Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton’s husband, for signing the North American Free Trade Agreement. The GOP nominee said the agreement sent jobs to Mexico.
Trump also said that Clinton would push to pass the Trans Pacific Partnership agreement, Obama’s signature deal. Clinton has said she now opposes the deal.
The remarks come as the Trump campaign has blamed his declining poll numbers on a rigged election, despite having no evidence to support the claim.
Voter fraud in U.S. elections is very rare, studies show.
Trump’s campaign has struggled with rocky poll numbers since the release of the 2005 “Access Hollywood” tape that showed the nominee talking about groping women. Trump has stated that the release of the tape was “certainly illegal” and suggested that he may take legal action against the network after the election next month.
