“Peaceful” Protests Turn Ugly Across the Nation

While the mainstream media fawns over the anti-Trump protesters as representing the very best of America, the so-termed peaceful demonstrations took a turn for the worse on Thursday in many cities across the country. You know, the way these leftists protests always – ALWAYS – do.

In Portland, Oregon, police officially declared that the protests had become riotous and they arrested more than 30 people who had committed crimes of destruction and violence while claiming to oppose the same. The media, which has been eagerly publishing stories of high schoolers playfully chanting “Build the wall” and feigning shock over some random bathroom graffiti, is painstakingly ignoring and excusing the behavior of these people.

The cognitive dissonance we’re seeing is just mind-blowing. A week ago, all of these liberals were worried that Trump supporters wouldn’t accept the outcome of the election, the dumb hicks. And then, without a single cause to doubt the results, here they are actively refusing to accept the outcome of the election. Some of them actually want an Electoral College revolt in December. Let us never take them seriously again when they talk about the norms of democracy. The jig is up.

Other cities kept their protests a little more civil, though there were outbreaks of violence in Los Angeles and Oakland. It remains to be seen whether we’re looking at the beginning of something or if this unrest will dissipate after liberals start getting used to the idea that they lost.

On Twitter, President-elect Trump registered his unhappiness with the demonstrations: “Just had a very open and successful presidential election. Now professional protesters, incited by the media, are protesting. Very unfair!”

The next morning, he revised his tone and praised the protesters: “Love the fact that the small groups of protesters last night have passion for our great country. We will all come together and be proud!”

The two tweets illustrate the balancing act Trump is going to have to negotiate over the coming weeks and months as he evolves out of campaign mode and into his status as president. He is probably more right than wrong about the “professional protesters,” but it’s time to rise above. Starve these hooligans of your attention and they’ll go away. Keep focused on the majority of Americans who aren’t interested in another four years of the 2016 campaign. Be a great president, and it will be the sweetest revenge possible.
