Media Refuses to Cover Susan Rice Story With Integrity

Monday’s blockbuster revelation, confirmed by multiple sources, that former national security adviser Susan Rice was responsible for the “unmasking” of individuals caught by U.S. surveillance of foreign nationals has drawn a strong reaction from Republicans…but crickets from the liberal media.

In an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt, Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton said that Rice was an inexhaustible fountain of scandal.

“Susan Rice is the Typhoid Mary of the Obama administration foreign policy,” Cotton said. “Every time something went wrong, she seemed to turn up in the middle of it – whether it was these allegations of improper unmasking and potential improper surveillance, whether it was Benghazi or many of the other fiascos of the Obama administration.”

In an interview with MSNBC, Rice did not deny requesting the names but she said it was “absolutely false” to suggest that she did anything for partisan purposes.

“Absolutely not for any political purposes – to spy, expose anyone. I leaked nothing to nobody,” she said.

And as far as the broad base of the mainstream media is concerned, that’s all there is to it. To the extent that the major networks are covering the story at all, they’re either calling it a right-wing distraction or they’re pretending that it somehow verifies that Trump colluded with the Russian government. Mostly, though, they’re just ignoring it.

But they’ve done that from the beginning of this sordid saga. At every turn, they’ve tried to make it seem like it’s completely plausible that Donald Trump is a Moscow plant…but completely ridiculous to suggest that Obama put American citizens under illegal surveillance. And they don’t want to hear anything that might accidentally turn the tables on their cemented narrative.

The bias of the liberal media has been a problem for a long time, but now it’s turned into a national security risk. Their abject refusal to cover this story from all angles is an embarrassment to journalism and one of the chief reasons our country is so divided right now. Predictably, they’ve squandered their second chance – the one they could have had after they shattered our trust throughout the campaign. Their loathing for Trump (and “Trump’s America”) has turned cancerous, and it’s eating them from the inside out.

If this had been a Republican national security adviser, this story would have a much different tone – you can believe that. But the media has told us for eight years that Obama never did anything wrong, and they’re not about to blemish that record now.
