This State is About to Make Abortion Free for Everyone

Leave it to liberal Oregon to give the rest of the country a preview of where the fanatical pro-abortion left is headed with their agenda. Last week, the Democrat-controlled state Senate passed a bill requiring all health insurers in the state to give their customers free access to abortion. Under the Reproductive Health Equity Act, even illegal immigrants will have the right to a free abortion, courtesy of the taxpayers. The bill, if signed into law, will put aside an extra $10.2 million in funding for contraception, STDs, and pregnancy-related services for the upcoming budgetary year.

“Affordable access to reproductive health care shouldn’t depend on who you are, where you live, or how much you earn,” said Rep. Julie Fahey on Twitter.

Democrats in the Oregon state House released a statement saying, “Oregon is once again leading the way on health care!”

Boy, you said it. Although, if this is the future of health care – abortions for everyone, including illegal immigrants, funded and paid for by the taxpayers – this country is in for some dark times.

“Even while the Trump Administration and Republicans in Congress are trying to strip away reproductive rights, Oregon is ensuring access regardless of income, citizenship status, gender identity, or type of insurance,” the House statement continued.

You have to love the left’s remarkable ability to couch the most evil legislation you can imagine in these friendly-sounding terms. There will surely come a day when future generations will recognize “reproductive rights” as one of the most inane, yet effective propaganda phrases ever developed by a politician. Who could oppose something as benign and libertarian as “reproductive rights”? One would never guess at the horrors that lie behind that clever twist of language.

Oregon Republicans, who don’t have the votes to defeat this kind of outrageous legislation, decried the bill as a “gift card” to Planned Parenthood. And indeed, the state’s predominant abortion clinic, through the Pro-Choice Coalition of Oregon, was a big supporter of the bill. And by “supporter,” we mean “writer.”

“The Pro-Choice Coalition of Oregon, which developed the legislation over the past two years with input from community leaders and legislators, applauded the elected leaders who recognized the urgent need to safeguard reproductive freedom and fill gaps in coverage that benefit millions of Oregonians,” said the coalition.

Well, what you did was devise legislation that forces everyone who purchases health insurance to pay for everyone else to get free abortions, regardless of what the customer happens to think about it. It’s not just morally sick, it’s economically ridiculous.

THIS is the kind of abject idiocy that the Trump administration is trying to roll back, and it’s shocking to think that millions of Americans oppose their efforts.
