Several people were reported injured on Friday when a bomb went off at London’s Parsons Green station in the early morning hours. The blast, which occurred on a packed train, was immediately sent to terrorism officials for investigation. While no one had come forward to claim responsibility for the attack by Friday morning, signs point to yet another Islamic terror incident.
“I was on second carriage from the back. I just heard a kind of whoosh. I looked up and saw the whole carriage engulfed in flames making its way towards me,” passenger Ola Fayankinnu told Reuters. “A lot of people were trampled on. There were phones, hats, bags all over the place and when I looked back I saw a bag with flames. People were crying, shocked, a few people had been injured, some people had been trampled.”
Assuming British law enforcement concludes that the blast was an act of Islamic terrorism, it will be the fifth such incident in 2017. While no one appeared to be killed in Friday’s attack, the total death toll this year is already up to 36.
“Another attack in London by a loser terrorist,” said President Donald Trump on Twitter. “These are sick and demented people who were in the sights of Scotland Yard. Loser terrorists must be dealt with in a much tougher manner. The internet is their main recruitment tool which we must cut off & use better! The travel ban into the United States should be far larger, tougher and more specific-but stupidly, that would not be politically correct!”
It was clear early on in the investigation that things could have turned out much worse. The device appeared to be improvised at home and did not detonate properly. In remarks to the Daily Mail, experts said the bucket bomb could have easily killed scores of train passengers if the full might of its explosive payload had gone off.
“Our city utterly condemns the hideous individuals who attempt to use terror to harm us and destroy our way of life,” London Mayor Sadiq Khan said. “As London has proven again and again, we will never be intimidated or defeated by terrorism.”
Maybe not, but British officials HAVE been intimidated and defeated by the ideology of Islamism, which has convinced officials like Khan to forgo measures that might actually protect the citizens of this great city. Through the insidious use of political correctness, Islamists (and useful idiots on the left) have tried to separate Islam and terrorism, and they have been bafflingly successful. This prevents law enforcement from doing their jobs, and it encourages government policies that put people’s lives in danger.
Until we face the hard truths on this issue, these attacks will never stop.
