California Wants to Put People in Jail for WHAT?

Liberals have some whacked-out priorities, and nowhere is their departure from sanity more obvious than in California. Last week, Gov. Jerry Brown signed two pieces of legislation that give you a little bit of insight into how the state’s Democrats view the law. In one, he declared California a Sanctuary State, forbidding law enforcement agencies from cooperating with detainer requests from the federal government. In other words, if you’re an illegal immigrant who has been arrested for a crime and ICE would like to deport you from your jail cell…you’ve got nothing to worry about, thanks to Governor Brown! The sheriff won’t breathe a word to the feds. In no time, you’ll be back out on the streets, taking advantage of the country where you don’t belong. Ain’t them liberals great?

But don’t take that to mean that California Democrats are soft on crime. No sir! Brown proved that when he signed the LGBT Senior Bill of Rights, which, among other things, will mandate that workers in nursing homes and other senior care facilities can face a year’s imprisonment and up to $1,000 in fines for…not respecting the PRONOUNS OF TRANSGENDER RESIDENTS.

Yes, according to the new law, anyone working in one of these facilities who “willfully and repeatedly” refuses “to use a transgender resident’s preferred name or pronouns” will be subject to criminal prosecution. Additionally, the law will require these facilities to allow transgender seniors to choose the bathroom that fits their gender identity, bringing to an end what was clearly one of the biggest problems facing the state.

The bill’s author, State Sen. Scott Wiener, has said that religious freedom doesn’t really matter when it comes to public spaces.

“Everyone is entitled to their religious view,” Wiener said. “But when you enter the public space, when you are running an institution, you are in a workplace, you are in a civil setting, and you have to follow the law.

“Our LGBT seniors built the modern LGBT community and led the fight for so many of the rights our community takes for granted today. It is our duty to make sure they can age with the dignity and respect they deserve,” Wiener continued. “I want to thank Governor Brown for joining our coalition in supporting this bill, which will make a real difference in people’s lives. The LGBT Senior Bill of Rights is an important step in our fight to ensure all people are treated equally regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.”

California: If you come to this country illegally…we’ll give you safe harbor! But if you say “he” when referring to a man who thinks he’s a woman, we’ll bring the full force of the criminal justice system down on your bigoted head.
