According to the Sacramento Bee, the California chapter of the NAACP is pressuring lawmakers to return in Washington with a mission in January. A mission to help make life better for people of color in the Golden State? A mission to help bring more revenue to California? A mission to expand the job market for young African-Americans getting out of school? No, no, silly, this is about something much more important. The NAACP wants California’s elected representatives to Congress to try and get “The Star-Spangled Banner” removed as the country’s national anthem.
Because it’s racist.
Hey, remember when all of those know-nothing liberal pundits were telling us that the NFL protests against the anthem didn’t actually have anything to do with the song or the flag? Yeah, that was a lie. It was a lie from the first time Colin Kaepernick put his knee on the ground and it’s a lie today. These black activists despise the anthem and they don’t have much warmer feelings about anything our country was founded upon. In their minds, the original sin of slavery has yet to be paid for, and they are going to keep trying to tear down American institutions until…
Well, there is no “until.” It’s “until” the American people finally get tired enough of this BS to put an end to it. Or it’s “until” there’s nothing left of our American traditions and culture. Whichever comes first.
According to the Bee, the NAACP began passing out two resolutions to legislative offices last week. One of them compels Congress to get rid of “one of the most racist, pro-slavery, anti-black songs in the American lexicon” and the other is a congressional resolution to honor Kaepernick himself.
“We owe a lot to Kaepernick,” said California NAACP president Alice Huffman. “I think all this controversy about the knee will go away once the song is removed.”
Once the song is removed? Once the song is removed!? Glory, glory, this woman thinks this is actually going to happen! We’re not sure if that’s a sadder statement about her blind hope or about our own lingering faith in Washington, but we sure hope it’s not the latter. You want to see a Republican massacre next November? Let the party go along with some foolish mission to get rid of the national anthem. Let Republicans give lip service to this absurd notion that the song is racist, much less the most racist song in American history.
Hell, we would be surprised if more than a handful of Democrats go along with this nonsense.
