Which Unhinged Liberal Said He Would Kill President Trump?

We can’t quite remember the last time British singer Morrissey was relevant, but he’s managed to get his name back in the headlines this week after telling a German news outlet that he would happily assassinate the President of the United States for the greater good. The former frontman of The Smiths was asked by Der Spiegel: “If there was a button here and if you pressed on it, Trump would die – would you push it or not?”

Morrissey didn’t hesitate.

“I would, for the safety of humanity,” he said. “It has nothing to do with my personal opinion of his face or his family, but in the interest of humanity I would push.”

Morrissey went on to criticize the press for their failure to bring Trump down.

“Whether they criticize him or laugh at him, he does not care,” he said. “He just wants to see his picture and his name. The American media have shot themselves in the leg.”

He said Trump was “like a little child” who had “exhausted the world” with his constant controversies.

“He is not a leader,” Morrissey concluded. “He is a vermin.”

So there you have it. Morrissey joins the quickly-growing list of celebrities who have threatened to kill President Trump, called for his assassination, or, at the very least, joked about the possibility that he might soon die. It has become the trend of the year in left-wing circles to throw caution to the wind and pretend that we don’t live in a country with a rich and tragic history of assassinations. What would have been unthinkable to mention – or even ALLUDE to – in the Obama years has become something fun you spout off about in an interview.

Let’s see, who else has wished harm on Trump?

Well, there was Johnny Depp this summer, who made some crack about, “When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?”

And there was Kathy Griffin and her disgusting “art” project that blew up in her face. At least in Griffin’s case, there was a swift and appropriate backlash, although honestly we’re still not quite sure why. We’re sure there were tons of Hollywood types who thought those pictures were the height of class and humor.

There was Snoop Dogg, who staged a mock execution of Trump in a music video.

There was Madonna, who dreamed about blowing the White House up at the March for Women.

And God knows, we’re probably forgetting a few.

We wonder what these celebrities would say if their not-so-secret desires came to pass. Would they pretend to be sorry? Would they take any responsibility, even in private? Or would they be openly, shamelessly happy about it?

Sick, sick people.
