Straight from the “You Brought It On Yourself” file, we have Univision anchor Jorge Ramos, who refers to himself as an “enemy” and an “opponent” of Donald Trump, telling a Spanish radio network that he’s not having a lot of fun in the new Age of Trump.
Ramos, who is an unabashed supporter of illegal Mexican immigration, found himself tirelessly indulging in political activism throughout the 2016 campaign. And now that we’re on the other side of that campaign and his girl lost the election, Ramos suddenly feels like a stranger in America.
“With Donald Trump there, I have never been treated so badly,” he said. “I have never been insulted so much. We’ve never been attacked so much. They have never tried to run us out as much as now.”
Who “we” might be isn’t clear, but we assume Ramos is talking about Hispanics. And that, of course, is part of the problem. That’s part of why Ramos is, as he claims, constantly attacked on social media. Because he, like so many Hispanic activists and Democrats, wants to conflate policies aimed at cleaning up illegal immigration with some kind of racist war on Mexicans. It’s nothing of the kind. BUT…when you, as a Hispanic, decide to MAKE it that way, well, you can’t be too surprised when it becomes something like that, can you? If the Official Hispanic Position is that illegal immigrants must be accepted in the U.S., well, then yeah, that’s going to bring out something that looks a lot like racism.
But Ramos doesn’t see that and he’s still out there peddling the left-wing lie that Trump is against all Hispanic immigrants.
“Donald Trump shows up and he not only says he wants to be President, but he says the immigrants that Mexico sends to the United States – this is almost a literal quote – the immigrants that Mexico sends to the United States bring crime, they are criminals and rapists. He did not say some, he did not say the most violent ones,” Ramos said.
“He was talking about you, too, everyone,” encouraged the interviewer.
“He was talking about me and he was talking about another seven million Mexican immigrants that we have in the United States,” Ramos replied. “Donald Trump was blaming us all for being criminals, rapists, drug dealers. I knew that he was lying, but they did not pay attention to us and you, who lived in the States, you understand, when we started to denounce that this was racism and that this orange-haired candidate was blaming us for things that are not true and nobody paid any attention to us.”
There are so many falsehoods in these two paragraphs that it’s hard to know where to begin. No, of course Trump was not talking about all Mexican immigrants, as he said over and over and over again for the next year and a half. He was speaking strictly of those here illegally. Oh, and it is RIDICULOUS to claim that “nobody paid any attention” to the people calling Trump racist. Are you kidding? That’s all we HEARD throughout the campaign! That’s all we hear NOW from you and your liberal ideologues. No one paid any attention?? What kind of fantasy…
Well, we don’t know. We’ll never understand. People like Ramos have decided that being opposed to illegal immigration is synonymous with being against Hispanics, and they won’t hear otherwise. So yeah, you’re going to have a bad time in America when that’s your position as a Hispanic immigrant. Feel free to leave.
