The American news media is putting the final nail in its own coffin. The death of the mainstream media has been coming for a long time, but we didn’t think it would arrive quite so soon. In the media’s desperation to find fault with everything the Trump administration does, they have quickened their own demise. This is a situation that was entirely avoidable…if only there were reporters and news chiefs willing to avoid it. Sadly, those journalists are few and far between. Those left have put the liberal agenda above all else and they’ve made it their singular mission to destroy the presidency of Donald Trump.
How far are they willing to go to accomplish their objectives? Well, they’re willing to take the side of an authoritarian, Islamic regime over that of the Trump administration. Just look at this weekend’s CNN coverage of the Iranian protests. In a disgusting demonstration of eroded values, correspondent Arwa Damon used a bunch of weasel words to “report” on the global community’s reaction to Trump’s tweets on Iran, clearly doing nothing more or less than giving her own opinion in the guise of news.
“This coming out from the [Iranian] foreign ministry, not only talking about the fact that they view the government of President Trump as the greatest bearer of ill will towards Iran but going on to say that, ‘The people of Iran give no value or credibility to such opportunistic expressions by the Government or the person, Mr. Trump. American officials, through their conduct, have not earned a place from which they can express masked sentiments as sympathies for the aware and engaged of the people of Iran,’” she said, beginning her remarks with a fair assessment of the Iranian government’s response.
But it was then that she veered into anti-American nonsense that came from nowhere but her own liberal mind.
“Now this, not just necessarily a rebuke of what the U.S. president tweeted, but also perhaps a reflection of just how frustrated, not just Iran but other countries frankly are, with the United States,” she said. “A lot of nations and their populations, no matter how they feel about their governments in particular, do perceive the United States as not really having a moral leg to stand on.”
Oh, a “lot of nations” think that, do they? Can you name some of them for us? Are they all on a moral playing field equivalent to Iran? Are they the rogue nations, Islamist theocracies, and brutal dictatorships that spoke out against us at the United Nations? Or are you just imagining these countries so you can give your opinion – that YOU don’t think that the U.S. has a moral leg to stand on?
It’s pathetic, and it certainly isn’t just limited to one reporter at CNN. The entire left-wing news media is trying to make it sound as though you can put the fascist, Islamic Republic of Iran – a state sponsor of terror and a menace to the world – in the same boat as the U.S. as long as Trump is in the White House. It’s sick, it’s an abdication of moral and ethical responsibility, and it will harm no one as much as the media itself.
Which is not to say it won’t harm others along the way, because it certainly will. Starting, perhaps, with the people of Iran.
