House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi set an all-time record on Wednesday when she stood on the floor of the House and spoke for more than eight hours in an effort to delay a vote on the budget bill. Which, to our mind, is a record of extremely dubious distinction. Pelosi pulled a marathon of a stunt, shattered a record, and proved her mettle…and she wasn’t representing a single individual who actually voted for her. Indeed, she wasn’t even representing a single American citizen. The only people who could inspire this kind of go-get-em attitude from the top Democrat were illegal immigrants. That says something about her and her party, but then again, it’s nothing that hasn’t been said before.
In fact, it’s nothing that Pelosi herself won’t say, using her own words. Just listen to this beauty of a remark. After praising the Dreamers – illegal immigrants brought to America as underage children – she went on to actually show GRATITUDE to their parents: “I say to their parents: Thank you for bringing these Dreamers to America. We’re in your debt for the courage it took for you to take the risk – politically, physically, in every way – to do so.”
We’re in your debt??
This woman is beyond belief.
Here’s what’s really galling about this stunt, aside from the obvious: President Donald Trump has already put an absolute giveaway of a deal on the table. If Democrats are so heartbroken over the plight of these Dreamers, they sure have a funny way of showing it. All they have to do is pony up the money for a border wall, end chain migration, and put the kibosh on the insane diversity visa lottery. Those three things and Dreamers not only get to stay, they have been promised a path to citizenship. But Democrats says it’s a poison pill – legislation that proves this is a white supremacist White House.
“We lost, but we still demand to get everything we want, exactly the way we want it.” That could basically be the Democrats’ new slogan.
We continue to believe that Democrats are absolutely crazy if they think this is a winning issue for them to throw their full political firepower behind, and we continue to think that Republicans who push for a “clean” DACA bill completely missed the message of the 2016 election. There is passive support in this country for some kind of amnesty bill, according to the polls, but both parties would be wise to take that news with a grain of salt. America’s true feelings on illegal immigration were made loud and clear when Donald Trump was elected president. It’s time for Washington to wake up.
