University Wants Staff and Students to Check Their “Christian Privilege”

Well, it was only a matter of time before we got to this point. Now, in addition to the “privileges” of white people, straight people, citizens, cisgenders, and the able-bodied, the left wants to make sure we know about another pervasive problem: Christian privilege. That’s why George Washington University is sponsoring a free training session this week for students and faculty who would like to know about this uniquely-American scourge and how to identify it in themselves and others.

In the class, attendees will learn that Christians “receive unmerited perks from institutions and systems all across out country.” They will also be taught that Christians “experience life in an easier way than non-Christians.”

GWU even gave the event a snappy, snide title: “Christian Privilege: But our founding fathers were all Christian, right?!”

In the description, the college writes of the class: “How do Christians in the USA experience life in an easier way than non-Christians? Even with the separation of Church and State, are there places where Christians have built-in advantages over non-Christians? How do we celebrate Christian identities and acknowledge that Christians receive unmerited perks from institutions and systems all across our country?”

And in case potential attendees are wondering how they will benefit from this instruction, the college helpfully informs them that upon leaving the class, they “will be able to list at least three examples of Christian privilege.” WOW. Mark my calendar, baby, ‘cause I’m about to seriously improve on the old resume.

Perhaps if we were talking about the America of 1950, we could be persuaded to agree that there was a certain amount of “Christian privilege” alive in this country. Today, though? Christians – despite being the overwhelming majority (at least as far as claimed religions go) – are endlessly persecuted in the courts, in the legislatures, and in the public arena. Whenever there is a conflict – legal, argumentative, cultural, or otherwise – between Christian rights and gay rights, guess who wins? Take a look at court decisions around the country and tally them up.

When is GWU going to offer a class on LGBT Privilege?

Atheists win every battle they wage to take prayer, Christ, or Bible study out of schools and sporting events. Abortionists are constantly gaining ground. And when it comes to representation in the media, Christians are either portrayed as villains/fools, or they aren’t portrayed at all.

And now we’re supposed to feel guilty about even getting this kind of second-class treatment? Beautiful.
