President Donald Trump fired a round or two of heavily artillery against the Justice Department and everyone else involved in the Russian witch hunt on Saturday, once again saving a special note of disgust for Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who has allowed things to get wildly out of control.
“Why isn’t the FBI giving Andrew McCabe text messages to Judicial Watch or appropriate governmental authorities,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “FBI said they won’t give up even one (I may have to get involved, DO NOT DESTROY). What are they hiding?
“The big story that the Fake News Media refuses to report is lowlife Christopher Steele’s many meetings with Deputy A.G. Bruce Ohr and his beautiful wife, Nelly,” he continued in another tweet. “It was Fusion GPS that hired Steele to write the phony & discredited Dossier, paid for by Crooked Hillary & the DNC….
“….Do you believe Nelly worked for Fusion and her husband STILL WORKS FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF ‘JUSTICE,’” he wrote in a third. “I have never seen anything so Rigged in my life. Our A.G. is scared stiff and Missing in Action. It is all starting to be revealed – not pretty. IG Report soon? Witch Hunt!”
The investigation remained on the president’s mind come Sunday, when he quoted several of his supporters, starting with Jeanine Pirro: “Bob Mueller, isn’t your whole investigation premised on a Fake Dossier, paid for by Hillary, created by a man who hates Donald Trump, & used to con a FISA Court Judge. Bob, I really think it’s time for you to give up your phony investigation.”
Trump also quoted Rep. Darrell Issa, who said on Fox & Friends: “Seems like the Department of Justice (and FBI) had a program to keep Donald Trump from becoming President.”
The president has maintained a hands-off approach to the Mueller investigation for a very long time now, but Trump’s patience with this neverending witch hunt may be nearing its end. The fact is that the troubling revelations about the steps the FBI took to prevent Trump from being elected go well beyond what it means to this particular president. This is about ethics, law, and national security. This is about the privacy of American citizens and the abuse of power by the nation’s highest law enforcement agency. This is about corruption in its rawest, most devastating form. This is about our nation’s president being tarnished, beaten, and handcuffed by an investigation that is PURELY political in nature.
We still think Trump’s best course of action is to let it play out, because the rope will soon be long enough to hang every Democrat in Washington and every last corrupt leftist in the Deep State. Still, if he decides enough is enough, we can’t say we’ll blame him.
