Ever since The New York Times dropped a bombshell story revealing that the FBI put President Trump under a counter-intelligence investigation in 2017, the liberal media has had a field day with speculations that Trump could be working secretly to further Vladimir Putin’s agenda at the expense of the United States. Such accusations are hardly new; the president’s critics have been calling him a Russian puppet since before the election. But with the added juice of an FBI investigation, the burners have been turned on full-blast.
For his part, President Trump is not amused.
“I never worked for Russia,” Trump told reporters in no uncertain terms on Monday. “And you know that answer better than anybody. Not only did I never work for Russia, I think it’s a disgrace that you even asked that question because it’s a whole big fat hoax. It’s just a hoax.”
The Trump-is-a-Russian-Agent story took on new life after the president sat down for an interview with Fox News’s Jeanine Pirro, who asked him outright if he was or currently is working for Russian interests.
“I think it’s the most insulting thing I’ve ever been asked,” he replied. “I think it’s the most insulting article I’ve ever had written, and if you read the article you’ll see that they found absolutely nothing.”
The dishonest media ran with this, saying that President Trump never actually denied working for the Russian government. They know full well that responding in the way Trump did is a denial, even if he did not use those specific words. To use the words is to give the accusation some small degree of credibility, as if it would be within the realm of human possibility for him to be a secret asset for the Kremlin. So he responded in the only way he should have had to respond, which is to regard the entire thing as nonsense. If Pirro had asked him if he’d ever been to Mars and he said, “Um, what do you think?” would we have the Washington Post suggesting that he left the door open to the possibility?
This entire farce has reached near-comical levels of absurdity. The only problem is that the media is playing it completely straight. With ZERO evidence of collusion, they are continuing to poison the minds of the American public for no other reason than to see Democrats take back the White House in 2020. Far from learning their lessons about the importance of maintaining the public trust, they have flown to new heights of bias, never to be seen again. It will bite them in the end…the only question is how much damage they’ll do to our country in the meantime.
