House Speaker Nancy Pelosi might have been forced to capitulate to Republicans and moderates in her own party on Thursday when she reluctantly endorsed the Senate’s border bill, but it’s clear that surrendering on illegal immigration is not the theme of the Democratic Party going into 2020. On the debate stage Thursday night, every one of the presidential candidates essentially told voters that they would do everything they could to pander to, rescue, and legalize illegal aliens. It’s unclear exactly whose vote they’re out there trying to get, but then again, who knows what the cretins in this party have in store for us.
We thought it was off-putting and regrettable on Wednesday when the first round of Democratic candidates started speaking Spanish and pandering to illegals, but nothing that happened in that first debate held a candle to the stunning moment on Thursday when every single candidate raised their hand to say, YES, my healthcare plan will provide illegal immigrants with taxpayer-subsidized insurance!
“You cannot let people who are sick, no matter where they come from, no matter what their status, go uncovered,” said current frontrunner Joe Biden. “You can’t do that. It’s just going to be taken care of, period. You have to. It’s the humane thing to do. This is not about a handout. This is an insurance program. And we do ourselves no favors by having 11 million undocumented people in our country be unable to access health care. But, of course, the real problem is we shouldn’t have 11 million undocumented people with no pathway to citizenship.”
Oh, he came so close in that last sentence to saying something reasonable and true! The real problem is we shouldn’t have 11 million undocumented people, FULL STOP.
But of course, no one on a Democratic stage is going to say that.
Later in the night, the NBC moderators asked for another show of hands: How many of you would decriminalize illegal border crossings? Once again, they all raised their hands (except Sen. Michael Bennet of Colorado who, let’s face it, has about as much chance of winning the nomination as Porky Pig).
Sen. Kamala Harris actually said that her FIRST PRIORITY as president would be to look out for illegal immigrants.
“We cannot forget our DACA recipients, and so I’m going to start there,” Harris said. “I will immediately, by executive action, reinstate DACA status and DACA protection to those young people. I will further extend protection for deferral of deportation for their parents and for veterans, who we have so many who are undocumented and have served our country and fought for our democracy.”
It’s a sad day when presidential candidates care more about getting the illegal alien vote than that of the citizens they supposedly want to represent. But then, that’s today’s Democratic Party for you: Illogical, maddening, and completely out of touch with reality.
