Former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley typically stays out of the day-to-day culture wars in this country, but when she saw protesters take down the American flag at an ICE detention facility in Colorado, only to replace it with the official flag of Mexico, she couldn’t remain silent. The flag (which was accompanied by an upside-down, graffitied Blue Lives Matter flag on the other pole) was hoisted high for all to see, betraying the protesters’ allegiances towards this country and all that it stands for. And never mind that most of the people in these detention facilities aren’t even Mexican.
In any event, Haley was disgusted by the fact that Democrats could look upon this travesty and see absolutely nothing wrong with it.
“There are no words for why the Democrats are staying silent on this,” Haley said. “If this is your way to winning an election, fire your strategist. This is disgusting. Love your country. And if you don’t like what is happening then tell the members of Congress to get to work and fix it.”
Asked directly on Fox News about the vandalism, 2020 Democratic candidate John Hickenlooper went out of his way to avoid the issue.
“Well, I certainly respect the American flag, and my whole life I’ve been fighting to make this country — and to make sure this country welcomes everybody, and that this flag represents everyone,” he said. “You know I’m old enough, I remember when people were burning the flag in protest of the Vietnam War. The amazing thing about this country is we’re really one of the few places on Earth where that level of freedom of speech is still protected.”
Yeah, no thanks to modern libs. Also, the act of vandalizing a federal facility is certainly not protected by the First Amendment. And think what you will about the legality of flag burning, just because something is legal and protected doesn’t mean it should be celebrated. Nor does it mean it should be ignored by Democrats who would rather burn their own eyes out than criticize the left.
But this is the environment that the Democrats have created. Through their political rhetoric and their media outlets, they have built this echo chamber where America is evil and every other country (er, except Russia) is wonderful. And now they want to lead us?
Why don’t you go see if you can win an election in Mexico, instead.
