All right, it’s a bit lazy to write a piece about CNN “embarrassing” themselves, because they do that on a daily basis. Every time Don Lemon shows up on television, it happens. Every time they cut to a White House report from Jim Acosta, it happens. Every time they try to pretend they are still a news organization and not just an arm of the Democratic Party, it happens. Picking on CNN at this point is like pushing over a puppy.
But sue us, it’s still fun.
On Tuesday night, CNN correspondent Randi Kaye sat down with a group of eight Republican women and tried her best to get them to admit that President Trump’s tweets against Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her Squad were racist. You might call Kaye’s efforts an exercise in futility, but they did serve one important purpose: They showed just how out-of-step the Media/Democrat establishment is with normal, everyday people.
“I’m a brown-skinned woman. I am a legal immigrant. I agree with him,” one supporter said of the president’s tweets.”
“I’m glad that the president said what he said because all they are doing is inciting hatred and division. He didn’t say anything about color,” said another woman.
Kaye, growing frustrated, decided to turn to the dictionary.
“Let me just share with you the definition of ‘racism’ from Merriam Webster dictionary: ‘a belief that race is the primary determinate of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race,’” she explained. “Based on that definition, do you not think that what the president has been saying—”
“No,” one of the women quickly said.
“Do you think it’s just a coincidence that these four congresswomen that the president is going after, none of them are white?” asked Kaye.
“I don’t think it matters,” a panelist replied. “It’s idiotic, what they’re saying, so it doesn’t matter if they’re black or white.”
But then came our favorite quote of the segment, and it was one that Kaye left herself wide open for.
“Why haven’t they befriended one of their white female congresswoman colleagues and let her join the group?” asked one of the Trump supporters. “They don’t like white people. C’mon, they’re racist.”
Absolute K.O.
Keep playing the “you’re a racist” game, Democrats. It worked so well for you in 2016 that we can’t WAIT to see how beautifully it works in 2020.
