DNA Test Imminent? Liz Warren Denies Lying About Pregnancy Firing

On the campaign trail this year, Sen. Elizabeth Warren has been telling her supporters that she was bound for a career in elementary education before that career was derailed in the 1970s by a principal who fired her because she got pregnant. Unfortunately for her, this story has been contradicted by…well, by her.

In 2007, she told students at the University of California that she stopped teaching for her own reasons.

“I was married at nineteen and graduated from college after I’d married, and my first year post-graduation I worked in a public school system with the children with disabilities. I did that for a year, and then that summer I didn’t have the education courses, so I was on an ’emergency certificate,’ it was called,” she said at the time.

Warren explained that she had her baby, stayed home for a few years, and spent some time thinking about what she would do with her career going forward. There was no mention of an evil principal who gave her walking papers based on the fact that she had a baby bump. This is a story that has just magically appeared in her mind in time for her presidential run.

Further evidence that Warren is lying came from the Washington Free Beacon on Monday. The site published Riverdale Board of Education documents that prove that not only was Warren not fired for being pregnant, she was specifically asked back!

“Minutes of an April 21, 1971, Riverdale Board of Education meeting obtained by the Washington Free Beacon show that the board voted unanimously on a motion to extend Warren a ‘2nd year’ contract for a two-days-per-week teaching job,” the site reported. “That job is similar to the one she held the previous year, her first year of teaching. Minutes from a board meeting held two months later, on June 16, 1971, indicate that Warren’s resignation was ‘accepted with regret.’”

Under ordinary circumstances, Warren might issue a public apology, say she got her facts mixed up, or perhaps tell us that she was just reciting the story of her employment that she’d heard from her Oklahoma relatives throughout the years. Instead, against all available evidence, she’s simply sticking with her story.

“All I know is I was 22 years old, I was 6 months pregnant, and the job that I had been promised for the next year was going to someone else. The principal said they were going to hire someone else for my job,” she told CBS News. “When someone calls you in and says the job that you’ve been hired for the next year is no longer yours. ‘We’re giving it to someone else,’ I think that’s being shown the door.”

Ah, the “my contract was renewed but I was fired but I resigned” story. That old chestnut.

Is there a DNA test that can prove Warren was fired for being pregnant in 1971? Maybe she was 1/1,024ths fired…
