Dems Take Virginia and Now They Want To Take the Guns

Not 24 hours after Virginia Democrats took control of the state legislature, Gov. Ralph Northam announced that he would begin working towards implementing a slate of anti-gun laws that he’s been desperate to pass since winning the state’s highest office.

At a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Northam reportedly “mentioned universal background checks, banning the sale of [semi-automatic firearms] and high-capacity magazines, restoring the law that limits purchases to one gun a month, and a red flag law that would empower a court to temporarily remove a gun from a person deemed to be a risk to himself or others,” according to the Washington Post.

Then, in a cheeky but revealing remark, he said: “We will at least start with those.”

According to the Washington Free Beacon, Democrats running for the legislature were extremely careful to avoid talking about Northam’s radical gun-control agenda.

“Gun confiscation and other gun control measures have been part of Northam’s agenda, but took on increased importance after a picture of two men, one in blackface and the other in KKK robes, was uncovered on Northam’s page in a medical school yearbook. In his first major public appearance after the scandal broke, Northam called for a special session of the legislature in order to reconsider his gun control package, following the recent strategy used by prominent liberals of pivoting to gun control after brushes with controversy,” reported the Free Beacon.

“Democrats have a strong incentive, in the form of millions in dark money, to implement new gun control laws,” the report continued. “In each of the last three election cycles, Everytown for Gun Safety—backed by billionaire Michael Bloomberg—and other gun control groups have spent large sums of money backing Democrats. Everytown spent $2.5 million to help push Democrats into the majority in Virginia, while the National Rifle Association spent just $300,000 supporting Republicans, according to CNBC.”

Well, what can we say other than Obama’s old phrase: Elections have consequences. Let the dark times getting ready to fall upon Virginia be a wakeup call to any Republican who is thinking about sitting out the 2020 election or switching his or her vote to some third-party goomba. The stakes are too high for those games. Whether you love Donald Trump or hate him, you need to keep your eye on the ball. The very instant these radical left-wing commies get control of Washington they will begin passing laws that will make your head spin. This is no time for complacency. Not by a long shot.
