Adam Schiff Called a “Liar” for Denying He Knows Who the Whistleblower Is

On Tuesday, during questioning of impeachment witness Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, Rep. Devin Nunes tried to sneak in through the backdoor and (finally) expose the Ukraine whistleblower to the public. After Vindman acknowledged that he’d expressed concerns about the Trump/Zelensky call to two officials, one being George Kent, Nunes asked about the other one.

“What agency is this individual from?” asked Nunes.

“If I could interject here. We need to protect the whistleblower,” interrupted Rep. Adam Schiff, who sees this as his highest calling.

In a later round of questions, Rep. Jim Jordan returned to the subject, asking Vindman: “And you’re not willing to tell us who that other individual is?”

Schiff was out of his seat again. “As I indicated before, this committee will not be used to out the whistleblower. The same necessity to protect the whistleblower will persist. You will be recognized again Mr. Jordan.”

That’s all fine and well, but it was just last week that Schiff claimed that not only was it his duty to “protect the whistleblower,” but he didn’t even know the whistleblower’s identity!

On Laura Ingraham’s program on Tuesday night, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said that Schiff was clearly not telling the truth.

“My first thought is very simple, Schiff’s a liar,” Gingrich said. “If Schiff doesn’t know who the whistleblower is, why is he cutting off questions about a person he doesn’t know exists? I think it’s hard to exaggerate to the American people the degree to which Adam Schiff is a liar. And a liar on a scale that frankly totally dishonors the U.S. Congress. I mean, his whole — first of all, there is no whistle-blower. There’s no whistle-blowing statute for what happened. What you have is a leaker. The leaker was leaking things that are classified. He has no right to protection. Schiff clearly knows who he is and has lied to the country.”

In a separate interview with Sean Hannity, Donald Trump Jr. hit on the same point.

“Schiff told the American people, and so did Vindman that they have no idea who the whistleblower is. That’s not what I saw today,” Don Jr. said. “It seems like they know damn well.”

Yes, yes it does.

But of course, we knew that all along, didn’t we?
