Counting her maize before it ripens, Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren told supporters on Monday that she’ll make a statement for abortion rights when she’s inaugurated as the next president. Recalling how she attended President Donald Trump’s inauguration in 2017 “wearing a scarf embroidered with the words ‘Planned Parenthood’” Warren said that she would soon repeat the trick.
“I made the decision when Donald Trump was elected — I decided I would go to the inauguration…but it was important to me what I wore. I’ll tell you what I wore: I wore my scarf that has in big letters on it embroidered, ‘Planned Parenthood,’” Warren told a crowd at the University of Iowa.
“And then the next day I showed up at the March; I spoke and I wore my pink Planned Parenthood scarf,” she continued. “Now that’s two, so here’s my plan for number three: I’m gonna be wearing that scarf when I’m sworn as president of the United States.”
We almost wish we had a time machine that could show us multiple versions of the future, just so we could see if Warren made good on that promise. But then, we’re not sure there IS any alternative future where Warren could win the presidency.
Back to the scarf issue, why not take a moment and imagine what the media’s reaction would be if Donald Trump promised to wear an NRA hat to his next inauguration. We thought leftists were supposed to be all about taking money out of politics, so we’re not sure how that philosophy squares with their unending adoration of this particular special interest group. We suppose it’s the same hypocrisy that Democrats have built their entire political machine on, but it never loses its ability to astound. Apparently words like “lobbyist” only carry a negative connotation when the money is coming from anti-socialist companies and organizations.
March for Life President Jeanne Mancini responded on Tuesday, calling her policies “wildly out of touch.”
“Senator Warren’s abortion policies – including advocating for late term abortion laws- are wildly out of touch with mainstream America, which would limit abortion to, at most, the first three months of pregnancy,” said March for Life President Jeanne Mancini. “The Senator would do well to study Americans’ views on this topic, rather than pander to the nation’s largest abortion provider.”
The senator would do well to study a great many things, including basic economics. But if she would rather spend her time trying to drum up cred with the most rabid leftists on Twitter, far be it from us to steer her in another direction.
