Is This Ukrainian Genocide? Court To Determine

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has announced that it will hold hearings into allegations of genocide in Ukraine as Russia continues its unprovoked assault on the sovereign neighboring country.

Public hearings are set for March 7 and 8 “concerning Allegations of Genocide under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (Ukraine v. Russian Federation),” according to the ICJ’s statement.

The court will hear oral arguments from Ukraine on March 7 and from Russia on March 8 at the Peace Palace in The Hague, Netherlands, the UN’s highest court.

Just days after the start of the Russian invasion, Ukraine filed suit against Russia, rejecting Moscow’s claim that it invaded its neighbor to prevent genocide and asking judges to order an immediate halt to Russian military operations.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has asserted that Ukraine committed genocide in the Donbass region of eastern Ukraine and that the invasion was therefore justified to end it.

In a filing in which it dismissed the genocide allegation, Ukraine asked judges to order “provisional measures” to protect Ukraine.

The ICJ is the UN’s court for resolving disputes between nations. Kyiv is saying the two sides have a dispute over the meaning of the 1948 Genocide Convention, a treaty they have both signed.

It asked the court to rule on the disagreement over “the existence of acts of genocide” and Russia’s claim to legal authority to take military action in and against Ukraine.

Cases before the highest UN court generally take years to go to trial, but hearings on provisional measures have been held within weeks of a filing.

Ukraine asked judges to order Russia to “immediately suspend the military operations which commenced on February 24, 2022, that have as their stated purpose and objective the prevention and punishment of a claimed genocide in the Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts of Ukraine.”

  1. This will be interesting. Think Russia has evidence? Russia claims it had no choice but to invade in order to protect certain residents. I still wonder why the US refused to acknowledge that Ukraine would not be allowed to join NATO. That would have allegedly put an end to any invasion some weeks ago. Oh, boy.

    • biden’s piggy bank !!!!!
ukraine is the most corrupt country in world
sex traffic, money laundering, bio weapons,
remember this was the country all the traitors,
ploosi, biden, kerry romney had their kids working!!!!
The U.S. has 11 bio-weapons labs in ukraine that we fund !!
ukraine is the deepstates playground !!!!!!
THIS has yet to come out !!!!!
      SEEK the truth

  2. If ICJ rules against Russia, what happens next? Will Putin and his minions be prosecuted for war crimes? Will NATO finally say enough is enough?

  3. Ever notice how governments handle tough issues? Hearings that last forever or until people forget, then they tell the criminal governments, Hey the hearing are over now can we get our payout back.?

Most government around the World and are criminal and they are not protecting liberty, freedom of rights!!

It’s time the people take back their weak governments. Bide is taking his favorite sides in the Ukraine issue, With China and Russia, because he has been favored by those two country in the past and he is padding for his future$$$ To bad our government doesn’t have a dependable DOJ! I think those days are over.

  4. I think if NATO simply approved the Ukrainian request to join then this thing would be over in days because the evil Russians would have the total wrath of NATO to deal with instantly. I really think it is time for all the peace loving nations of this world to come together and fight these evil countries no matter what it takes. I’m not suggesting the UN either because they have become a very corrupt organization. I’m thinking something like a worldwide NATO. I also think ALL nuclear weapons should be banned from the earth. On another note, the world should be thinking about the protection of Taiwan too. The Chinese are watching what is happening in the Ukraine war and if the Russians pull this off then they will try the same thing with Taiwan. I don’t thing Biden has the balls to help defend Taiwan because he is a puppet of China.
