Top Republican Sends Strict Warning To Own Party

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) wrote in a blog post that the GOP “must learn to quit underestimating” President Biden. In the post he made on his website, Gingrich noted that Biden had according to his own definition of the word been successful. He also added that the GOP’s aversion to him had caused them to frequently underestimate both him and his party.

Gingrich added that the party’s dislike for the man has led to them often “pettily” focusing on his speaking difficulties or some of his other weirder behaviors. These comments come after the Republicans had an underwhelming midterm election in which they only managed to narrowly gain control of the House, while Democrats managed to keep control of the Senate. Republicans had previously been hoping for a “red wave” to materialize but that did not happen.

He noted that Biden has gotten trillions of dollars in spending and a number of “radical” bills due to their four-vote majority in the House and the tie in the Senate. This is because Vice President Harris serves as the tie breaking vote. He added that the support given to Ukraine has also enabled the country to fend off the attack from the invading Russian troops.

He also pointed to the midterm elections to say that the Biden administration managed to have one of the best first-term midterm elections in history. This is why the GOP would need to examine what they did unsuccessfully in 2020 and 2022 in order to move forward.
