Michelle Obama at DNC Convention: America is the Greatest Country on Earth

First Lady Michelle Obama addressed a fired up crowd at the Democratic National Convention on Monday evening, taking the stage late in the evening to show her support for Hillary Clinton. In Obama’s eyes, the presidential race is one between a positive and negative role model for children.

Never once did the first lady mention Trump’s name, but she knocked the Republican nominee, condemning “the hateful language” heard from “public figures” on television.

“Our motto is, when they go low, we go high,” said Obama.

The first lady also took a jab at Trump’s campaign slogan “Make America Great Again.”

“Don’t let anyone tell you that this country isn’t great,” she said. “This right now is the greatest country on earth.”

Obama made the case that Clinton’s temperament and character make her the best fit for the Oval Office. The first lady said Clinton was the role model she would want her daughters to see in the White House.

“This election – every election – is about who will have the power to shape our children for the next four or eight years of our lives,” Obama said. The first lady added that Clinton was the only person she believed is qualified to be President of the United States.
